Located just 30 minutes west of Colorado Springs along U.S. Highway 24—often called Ute Pass in honor of the historic trail used by the Ute Indians—this charming destination is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The number one reason to visit Woodland Park would be the views! Which ever way you turn you will not be disappointed.

Nestled in the shadow of Pikes Peak, surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and majestic mountain peaks, the town boasts of views that change with the seasons, with vibrant greens in the summer to golden aspen leaves in the fall and snow capped peaks in the winter.

Whether you’re gazing at the impressive Rockies or catching a glimpse of wildlife in their natural habitat, the scenery here is a constant reminder of nature’s beauty and tranquility.

Dinosaur Resource Center:

A must visit destination for dinosaur lovers and curious minds of all ages. As you stroll through the museum, each exhibit comes to life with detailed information about the dinosaurs, transporting you back to prehistoric times.

The sheer size of these incredible creatures will leave you in awe, making it almost impossible to imagine that beings this massive once shared our planet. You’ll learn about land dwelling creatures in the Terrestrial Hall and sea life in Marine Hall.

Kids will love the interactive area, where they can engage hands-on experiences with fossil dig stations, and puzzles. You can even watch paleontologist’s work on their current projects in the onsite lab.

Rampart Reservoir:

Although you cannot swim here, the reservoir is a great get away, for the day or even a camping trip. You can spend the day boating, fishing, hiking, watching for wildlife, bring a picnic, or just plop down on a chair and read a book.

Either way, spending a day or a couple days here, you will be able to recharge and connect with your outdoorsy self. Bring your bike and hit the trails if you are super outdoorsy.

Red Mountain Adventure Park:

Located on over 3 acres, is a great place for skateboarders, bikers, and kids learning to ride on hills. With 8,500 square feet of a concrete skate park and dirt course, it will keep young kids and teenagers busy for hours. For small children, there is a playground and covered picnic area.
